Montrose
The Royal Burgh of Montrose is a vibrant and bustling coastal town with an ancient history. Montrose has easy rail access being on the main north east coastal railway line located between Dundee and Aberdeen. The town boasts the widest High Street in Scotland, the fifth oldest golf course in the world, a wide range of local art, some stunning architecture, Britain's first operational military airfield now home to the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre and the most impressive of all is the town's spectacular view of a two-mile tidal lagoon, Montrose Basin, home to thousands of migratory birds. Montrose has a three-mile long sandy Blue Flag beach, with wide sands at low tide, a children's adventure play area and refreshments pavilion.If you want to check out the area’s fascinating history visit Montrose Museum is one of the oldest purpose-built museums in Scotland, it is an elegant building constructed from pink sandstone which overlooks the historic Mid Links parks.
