Sailing In The Scottish Highlands

The Loch Insh Watersport and Activity Centre near Aviemore run many types of sailing courses, and they cater for all age levels. Children as young as 6 are welcome to learn sailing at Loch Insh. Courses last anywhere from an hour or two, to a two day course which will get you an RYA Level 1 certificate, a five day course which will get you a Level 2 certificate, and advanced RYA courses. They provide boat hire as well as courses, but you must prove that you are capable of handling the boat before they will let you take it out. They have 11 types of sailing vessels with capacities for up to 8 people.
New Horizon Sailing out of Oban offers sailing instruction, but they also run sailing holidays around the Western Isles. Here you have the chance to explore the inlets, bays, and sea lochs. You will see spectacular sights and have the chance to watch wildlife, while at the end of the day, you can moor in a secluded anchorage and enjoy a lovely and relaxing meal with other like-minded folk.
